Punchy PR is a digital PR agency working with brands in the US, UK, and Europe. We get our clients featured in top publications like BBC, Forbes, Inc., and TechCrunch, earning links and brand mentions that grow their search rankings, traffic, and credibility.
You can see our work on our placements and case studies pages.
About the role
As a Digital PR Executive, you'll run campaigns from start to finish: turning ideas into stories, writing the press materials, building media lists, pitching journalists, and landing coverage. It's a writing-heavy role with real ownership. Once you're trained up, you'll manage 3 to 5 clients and ship a high volume of campaigns every month.
You don't need digital PR experience. If you can write, follow the news, and care about details, we'll teach you the rest.
If the thought of going from an idea to seeing it published in Forbes in a matter of hours excites you, this is the job for you. No bureaucracy, no committees, no red tape - you’ll be working directly with the founder and have the opportunity to flex your creative muscles.
Your aims in the role:
- Land coverage for your clients in top publications and help hit their coverage targets
- Understand the press agenda: what journalists are writing about and what they're likely to cover next
- Know what your clients' competitors are doing to get coverage and links
- Spot new hooks and opportunities quickly. This industry moves fast, so you need to be able to pivot
- Understand why coverage matters and how it helps clients' search rankings and traffic
Your day-to-day:
- Getting to know your clients' businesses and industries in depth
- Contributing campaign ideas. At first, you'll run proven campaign formats, and coming up with ideas on your own comes once you know how we work
- Turning campaign ideas into stories journalists want to cover
- Collecting and checking data for campaigns
- Writing and editing press releases and pitches
- Researching journalists and building targeted media lists
- Pitching journalists, following up, and building relationships over time
- Following the news daily and spotting chances for reactive PR
- Tracking coverage and reporting results
- Sharing regular updates on results and roadblocks
About you
Must-have:
- Excellent written English (near-native). Clear, punchy writing with no fluff
- You follow US media and pop culture and know what's making the news
- Strong attention to detail. Names, numbers, and facts are right the first time
- Able to write strong copy from scratch, not just edit AI drafts
- Confident enough to push back and share your opinion, even when it's not what people want to hear. Think an idea is stupid? Say it.
- Comfortable using AI tools, and able to spot when they get it wrong
- Self-driven and accountable. You own your work and don't wait to be told
- Able to work full time, with 3 to 4 hours a day overlapping US Eastern time
Nice to have:
- Experience in digital PR, link building, outreach, journalism, or content writing
- Some understanding of SEO and AI search
- Experience with HARO, Qwoted, and other journalist request platforms
What's in it for you?
- $1,500 to $2,000 per month, depending on experience
- Fully remote
- Long-term, full-time role, paid monthly as an independent contractor
- 14 days paid time off, rising to 20 after your first 6 months, plus holidays and 5 paid sick days
- All the tools and software you need to do the job
- Full training in digital PR, plus exposure to the wider side of SEO and AI search
- Direct work with the founder and room to grow as the team grows
Hiring process
- Application: a short form (see below). We read every application and get back to shortlisted candidates.

- Paid tasks and final call: three short tasks based on real client work (paid $100, 72 hours to complete), then a call where you walk us through your thinking.
- Paid trial period: three months on live campaigns, paid at the full monthly rate. Month 1 is training on our process and tools, with no targets. In month 2, you run campaigns with support, at around half the target volume. By month 3, you're at full volume. It's a chance for both sides to see if it's the right fit.
- Full-time role: if it works, you join the team long-term.
